Leadership Gifts and Special Naming Opportunities

A Leadership Gift to the CIM Foundation enables you to provide meaningful and even long-lasting support.  Leadership Gifts are:

  • Over $10,000;
  • Gifted in the form of cash, securities, property, trusts, or gifts in kind;
  • Undesignated or designated to a project, activity or program;
  • Approved by the Board of Trustees.

CIMF is dedicated to acknowledging the significant support of our donors including recognition in our annual report, invitations to special events related to your gift (awarding of scholarships to deserving students) as well as periodical updates on the progress of the project/program that you have supported.

You may chose to contribute to a specific project/program that is already in place or suggest a new venture which would be submitted to the CIMF Board of Trustees for approval.  For gifts of $100,000 or more, special naming opportunities are possible, including named education funds, scholarships and project components.  You are invited to discuss naming opportunities with the Foundation Manager. The following are some of the current projects and programs you can support:

Distinguished Lecturers Program

This program provides access to key industry leaders as lecturers for Special Events, Regional Conferences and Annual meetings across the country. CIM Distinguished Lecturers are chosen annually by the Institute’s Societies, Divisions and Committees.  You can support the Distinguished Lecturers Program by funding the participation of one or more lecturers for a period of one, three or five years.

Mining for Society (M4S)

Mining for Society (M4S) is a public show which consists of 7 to 10 pavilions featuring displays by industry companies representing the different phases of the mining cycle.  You can support the Mining for Society program by funding a component of the public show such as the educational booklet, a pavilion, technology support and/or student transportation for a period of one, three or five years.

CIMF Endowment Fund

The CIM Foundation has created an Endowment Fund while continuing to support its main objectives.  Due to some very generous donations and bequests CIMF is expanding its support to students and the education of the general public about mining.  The Endowment Fund will ensure that the Foundation will be able to continue to support programs and activities during periods of economic decline.   Unfortunately, with interest rates at record lows, the income generated from the Endowment Fund is significantly reduced. CIMF is looking to raise more money to support the current programs and other worthy programs while maintaining its Endowment base.

You may also prefer to provide an unrestricted gift which would allow CIMF the discretion to direct your funds to where they would be most needed and/or have the best impact.  Would you like to know more about CIMF Leadership Gifts and Special Naming Opportunities?  Please contact:
