CIM's Mining For Society (M4S)

Animators preparing students to tour M4S - the show about mining, minerals, metals and materials (the 4 Ms). In 2010, approximately 10,000 visitors, mostly school children, visited the M4S exhibition. This educational show is offered free of charge to schools and members of the general public to help them understand the importance of mining in their daily lives. From raw minerals, such as rocks, to a finished product, like a bicycle, visitors come to understand the different phases of the mining cycle and learn of all the promising job opportunities mining provides.

M4S is an educational show about mining, minerals, metals and materials. CIMF has proudly supported M4S since 2005. This public show consists of 7 to 10 pavilions that feature displays by a number of companies within the industry.

Live demonstrations and interactive displays engage parents, teachers and students alike. To spark an interest in the different audiences, the displays represent the different phases of the mining cycle and present, for instance, raw materials such as rocks up until their transformation into a finished product, like a bicycle. M4S is intended to demonstrate the importance of the mining industry in our daily lives as well as to present some of the diverse career opportunities offered through this enviable industry. Visiting M4S is free of charge to students and members of the general public. M4S is held in conjunction with the CIM Annual Conference.
